Your Website Will Fail Without This……

Making A Website Successful How does a website continually attract new visitors and ensure the old ones return on a regular basis?

With millions of websites springing up every day, what do you think we should do to make ours standout? Do you think we should have lots of flash images, lots of bright colours, lots of photos, lots of writing?

I think a lot depends on the type of website you have;

For instance a Photographer’s Website with very few or poor  photos is doomed to failure.

An e-commerce site (online store) selling Neck Ties or any product for that matter; with a very limited and stagnant selection is doomed to fail, or one that has limited photos or poor description of the products they are selling.

A Tutorial or Learning  site with very limited information or content that is not upgraded regularly will also fail.

A Golf Training site that has the same old tips and has training hints that are hard to understand or follow will surely not be considered a site to return to again and again for new hints or tips by golfers.

Do you see the pattern? Can you figure out the crucial ingredient of a good website?

The answer is content. In all of the examples listed above, we notice that lack of quality content is what will cause the sites to eventually fail. In my experience and opinion this is one of the most critical and important segments of a website – it’s content. Not to say that other factors are not important but to me this is the MOST important piece.

No amount of flash, colour, layout, ad campaigns, website layout, SEO techniques,  will make a website successful if the content is poor, unchanging, old and stagnant. A site can notice success for a short period of time at it’s creation; but in the long run it will fall to the wayside.

Not only does your content have to be of a high quality, it has to be presented and displayed correctly for the web and it has to be dynamic. In other words your site should be constantly going through a metamorphosis, a little tweak here a new article there. New product offers, updates, editorial changes, new material etc. That does not mean that you have to add, subtract or alter the site on a daily basis, but it needs to be addressed frequently. Even changing the position of some content from say page 3 to page 7 will make a difference.

Here is an analogy; would you continually visit a local store if everything always remained the same; same products; same location, same signs, same display technique etc? Yes, you might,  but if there was another store in the neighbourhood , that has more specials, new product introductions, more attractive and visually pleasing and dynamically changing content, I wonder where you would shop.

So have very good content for your site, make it dynamic, interesting and attractive. Add new stuff, edit some of the old stuff that requires editing, reposition some of the content and constantly keep adding new content to your site. New content to any website means more visits from the search engines, means more indexing of newer pages, better position on the SERP, means more hits, more site visitors and a successful Website.

Good Luck!

    Hello Syed;

    Thanks for the feedback.

    AdSense is only one of many forms to generate click back revenue from a site. I will cover this in a later blog. But to answer your question in brief; you have many companies that you may sign up with and plug in their ad codes into your website to generate income.

    A couple of other options to AdSense is CJ – Commission Junction and Chitika. You may sign up with them and plug their code into your website and basically monetize it.

    Hope this helps.
